The veteran men (35 to 70 years old) and women (35 to 55 years old) squads operate with about 16 rowers in each group. The squads train up to 4 days a week at the following times throughout the year;
Monday – weights/circuits 5:00 to 6:30pm.
Tuesday – water work/circuits 6:30 to 8:30/9pm.
Thursday – water work/circuits 6:30 to 8:30/9pm.
Saturday – water work 8am to 1pm (Veteran women only).
Sunday – water work 8am to 1pm.
The main aim of the squad each season is to race at the top veteran events throughout the year. These are the Fours, Scullers and Eights Head as well as Henley Veteran Regatta and the World Rowing Masters Regatta. Due to the vast amounts of experience within the Vet men’s squad they do not have a coach. The Veteran women are coached by Jim Peacock. These squads very much run themselves in terms of organisation and funding (Veteran men own their boats).
If you would like more information about the veteran squads please telephone John Carter (men) on 07904 587266
or
to email Jo Baxter (women).
